viryl / Jamie Fiedler
Drawing inspiration from a time when the art of DJing was all about vinyl and flow, viryl embodies the spirit of an era that predates social media. An elder millennial at heart, he stays true to his roots, with no viral agenda that prioritizes genuine musical expression. While others chase algorithms, he’s busy delivering unforgettable sets that exist purely in the moment.
viryl is known for seamlessly taking the audience on a ride through a variety of musical styles, including Progressive/Melodic House, Bass/Tech House, Organic & Deep House...unless he and the crowd are feeling differently and they end up somewhere in the land of Future Bass, Trap and/or DnB. With a deep passion for rhythm and sound, viryl’s sets typically cover multiple genres, and offer a diverse and captivating musical journey.
With aspirations of following in the musical footsteps of his grandfather, Arthur Fiedler, the legendary conductor of the Boston Pops, viryl’s musical journey began early. A classically trained pianist surrounded by music from the day he was born into the Fiedler legacy, he developed a deep understanding of melody, harmony, and rhythm from a young age. This rich musical foundation shaped his approach to electronic music, blending classical discipline with modern beats.
After stepping away from the all-vinyl DJ life in 2006 to pursue a career in software engineering, viryl touched his first CDJ in 2022 and within a few months was back in the game and being booked at some of the top venues in Boston.
In addition to his DJ career, viryl is the founder of Sound Experience, a private DJ hangout and recording space that has hosted international artists like Bhaskar, Vintage Culture, Cat Dealers, Proppa, DJ Susan & Kaleena Zanders, PS1 and many more. His expertise also extends to the technical side of music, working as a sound engineer for his own events and for other venues, where he ensures top-notch sound quality for the listener at every event.
viryl has graced the decks at some of the top venues in Boston and beyond, including Friendship (Miami/Belize), Senderland Festival (NH), bsmnt (Boston), Zuma (Boston), Eagle Room (Miami), The Grand (Boston), 715 Harrison (SF), Park City (Boston), Lolita FP (Boston), Chemist (Boston), Scorpion (Boston), Versus (Boston), Neon Grotto (Austin), Cantab (Cambridge), Middle East / Zuzu (Cambridge), Open Newbury (Boston), Capo (Boston), Loco (Boston), Bootleg Special (Boston), View Boston (Boston) and more. His adaptability allows him to thrive in any setting, from underground clubs to large-scale festivals.
After a few years of focusing on DJing, viryl is returning to his roots in music production, gearing up to release his first tracks in over two decades. To be continued...
